ATLÉTICO DE MADRID
Atletico already know what it’s like to win a LaLiga Promises National Tournament having lifted the trophy back in 2012, and this year they are hoping for a repeat performance in Villarreal. Atletico's youngsters needn’t look any further than the first team of their own club for inspiration, where star academy graduates Koke and Saul Niguez have made their mark, and they are sure to bring out Los Rojiblancos’ trademark never-say-die attitude in this tournament.
FC BARCELONA
The Catalans are undoubtedly the most decorated side in the LaLiga Promises National Tournament, having already won the competition on a number of occasions and are once again among the favourites to take the silverware home. The FC Barcelona youngsters will do all they can to take the trophy home to La Masia, an incredible talent factory in which many of the best players in recent years have honed their craft.
RCD ESPANYOL DE BARCELONA
Espanyol are battle-hardened in LaLiga Promises, boasting an impressive track record of reaching the final in 2018 and winning the competition in 2011 and 2004. Boasting one of the finest academies in the land, Los Pericos will be heading to Villarreal all guns blazing with onlookers eagerly anticipating their return to LaLiga Promises.
REAL BETIS
Joaquin, Dani Ceballos and Fabian to name but a few are just some examples of the big names who started out at Betis’ academy. These stars will serve as inspiration for the club’s youngsters who are keen to stand out at LaLiga Promises.
REAL MADRID
Defending champions Los Blancos will be keen to hold on to their trophy, having won it in 2019 when they beat FC Barcelona in the final played at Ciudad Deportiva Pamesa Ceramica. Valdebebas is one of the best academies in Spain, and the Real Madrid youngsters will be keen to show this on the pitch in this landmark 30th edition of the tournament.
SEVILLA FC
Some of the best players in recent years have come through the Nervion academy. These include legends like Jesus Navas and Sergio Ramos as well as stars who have come to the forefront more recently such as Bryan Gil. Sevilla FC already know all about winning LaLiga Promises, which they did on two occasions, in 2006 and 2015, and this time out they will be keen to repeat those successes.
VALENCIA CF
Valencia are another club with a great track record in LaLiga Promises. Los Che won the tournament in 2003 and have been in the grand final on three other occasions. Players such as Jose Luis Gaya, Carlos Soler and Ferran Torres have come through the academy in recent years from an inexhaustible pool of talent, and we are sure to be seeing more shining examples from the club over the weekend.
VILLARREAL CF
Villarreal aren’t only the hosts once again but also one of the teams to beat. El Submarino Amarillo are one of the most experienced teams in a tournament which they already won in 2016 and reached the final in 2017. The club pour a lot of effort into their academy which is evidenced by the quality of their youth sides.
DEPORTIVO ALAVÉS
Alaves will be heading to the Ciudad Deportiva Pamesa Ceramica keen to set the tournament alight. Will this edition of LaLiga Promises unearth a new star who will go on to shine at Mendizorroza in the coming years? We will have to wait and see how LosBabazorros fare in the tournament.
GETAFE CF
The Madrid-based team have already appeared many times in the LaLiga Promises National Tournament. Getafe CF are putting more and more effort into their academy and this will surely be evidenced when Los Azulones take to the field at the Ciudad Deportiva Pamesa Ceramica. These youngsters will not be short on hunger and desire and will do their best to channel the grit and determination so characteristic of the club’s first team when they head out onto the pitch.
LEVANTE
Levante will not have to travel very far to take part in yet another edition of a tournament that they already know like the back of their hand. Los Granotas have a team brimming with talent and enthusiasm, and we may even catch a glimpse of the next Jose Luis Morales or Roger Marti at the Ciudad Deportiva Pamesa Ceramica over the weekend.
RC CELTA
RC Celta have been the main exponent of Galician football in recent years and have participated a number of times in LaLiga Promises. Los Celestes are heading to Villarreal with the aim of enjoying themselves while also making their mark on the pitch. Will LaLiga Promises 2021 unearth the next Iago Aspas, a player whose name the Balaidos faithful will be chanting for years to come? There’s every chance, as Celta’s academy is overflowing with talent.
REAL SOCIEDAD
La Real’s first team is packed with players who learnt their trade in the club’s youth ranks, which is a clear example of how much Real Sociedad invest in their grassroots football. Mikel Oyarzabal and his contemporaries know that there is another promising generation following theirs, which is sure to attract a lot of attention for the first time over the weekend.
SD EIBAR
Basque football will have three representatives in Villarreal, and one of them will be SD Eibar, who have already carved an impressive reputation for themselves in LaLiga Promises in recent seasons. Los Armeros will do their utmost to succeed in the tournament, starting out by facing up to Group B rivals Atletico Madrid, Valencia CF, Real Sociedad and SD Huesca.
CA OSASUNA
Out of all of the LaLiga Santander clubs you would be hard pressed to find a club as invested in their academy as Osasuna, as evidenced by the fact that a large proportion of its first team have come through the ranks at the club. There’s no doubt that these youngsters representing Osasuna in this event are keen to go on to represent the club professionally, and doing well in LaLiga Promises would be the ideal place to kickstart the process.
GRANADA CF
Granada are surely at the apex of its history following two highly memorable seasons, and the excitement from the first team’s forays is sure to have had a knock-on effect in the youth teams at the club. Granada CF are among four Andalusian teams that will participate in the tournament.
REAL VALLADOLID CF
Valladolid are known for being humble and hardworking, but they will be certainly be keen to impress in this event. Los Pucelanos face a tough start as they are drawn against Sevilla FC, Levante UD, RCD Espanyol and Elche CF, although they have already done well in previous editions and hope to once more claim plaudits this time around.
SD HUESCA
Following the first team’s promotion to LaLiga Santander last season, Huesca are back in a LaLiga Promises National Tournament having made their debut a couple of years ago. Their enthusiasm and desire to win will make up for any lack of experience, and the Aragon-based club will seek to impress in Villarreal.
ELCHE CF
Another team featuring again in LaLiga Promises this edition is Elche CF, whose last appearance in the tournament was back in 2015, when Villarreal also hosted the event. After the club achieved promotion to LaLiga Santander last season, the Elche CF youth team will also get the chance to show what they are made of in what is set to be a memorable 30th edition of the tournament.
CÁDIZ CF
The Andalusians are back competing in LaLiga Promises after several years of absence, and their return is further proof of the robust health of Andalusian football today. Together with Valencia, it is the most represented autonomous community in the tournament. The values, passion and humility which are well-known traits of Cadiz CF will come to the forefront in this exciting 30th edition of the tournament.
