Previously… Juan Carlos Rodríguez Moreno (Puente Castro, León, 1965) is a Spanish ex-footballer who played as a left-back for R. Valladolid CF, FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Valencia CF.
His achievements… After standing out at Valladolid, Juan Carlos signed for Atlético in 1987. He played there for four seasons, winning a Copa del Rey before moving to Barcelona to form part of Johan Cruyff's Dream Team. With the Azulgranas he enjoyed some of his greatest success, lifting the UEFA European Cup, 3 Liga BBVAs, one UEFA Super Cup and 2 Spanish Super Cups. In 1994 he decided to leave the Camp Nou and, after a spell at Valencia, he returned to Valladolid to enjoy the final years of his career with the club where it all started.
After hanging up his boots… He retired at Valladolid at the end of the 1998-99 season at 33 years of age. After his retirement his stayed in the world of football, training the Castile and Leon team in 2002 and he later became the technical secretary at Valladolid between 2012 and 2014.
Did you know… He played for Spain once in a friendly match against Romania on 17 April 1991 in Caceres. In that match, the Spanish team lost 2-0 and Juan Carlos played 83 minutes.
