The curtain was raised on the 25th PAMESA LaLiga Promises National Tournament with a bang on the evening of Thursday 2 June. The 20 Under-12s teams who are set to take part in the competition were introduced at a spectacular opening ceremony featuring music, fireworks, acrobatics and packed stands.
After all the teams had been given a warm welcome, an All-Star game was held featuring six very special guests. Raul Gonzalez, LaLiga's country manager for the United States, teamed up with Fernando Morientes, a Liga BBVA ambassador, and Julen Guerrero on one side. Up against them were two more Liga BBVA ambassadors in the shape of Carles Puyol and Marcos Senna, plus Gica Craioveanu. It was the All-Star Red team versus the All-Star White team, a veritable feast of football.
Excitement, nerves and oodles of energy were plain to see out on the field of play. The youngsters simply could not wipe the smiles off their faces from start to finish. The 20 kids laughed and played football with their idols, getting the ball rolling in perfect fashion. The enjoyment was not just to be had out on the pitch, either, with boundless enthusiasm pouring out from the stands to boot. The game ended with victory going to Puyol's side, although the final score was not the most important thing. Everyone who was there got to experience a very special moment.
