Playing alongside your idols is always special, but if you get to do so at one of the most prestigious Under-12s events in the world, the 25th PAMESA LaLiga Promises National Tournament in Villarreal, then it is a real treat. That is how the young footballers felt as they inaugurated the latest edition of this tournament in real style, with an All-Star game featuring Raul Gonzalez, Fernando Morientes and Julen Guerrero kitted out in white, and Carles Puyol, Marcos Senna and Gica Craioveanu wearing red.

The match ended 3-2 to the team captained by the former FC Barcelona star and current LaLiga ambassador. It was the eventual winners who opened the scoring courtesy of a lovely goal crafted by a superb give-and-go involving captain Puyol and Craioveanu, and finished off by young Victor Martinez. This was a strike that the starlet will surely never forget.

Morientes equalised not long after the interval, seizing on a loose pass by an All-Star Red player and stroking home with his left foot. The second half picked up where the first had left off by serving up plenty of memorable moments, not least the individual battle between familiar foes Raul and Puyol, some sumptuous passes from Senna, and no small number of touches of class from the kids on display.

The Reds went ahead once more following some further fine interplay between Puyol and Senna on this occasion, only for Raul to level proceedings again with a typically predatory effort. However, youngster Martinez had the last laugh, smashing home from Senna's great pass to seal a 3-2 victory for his side and mark himself out as one to watch in the tournament proper. Let the action commence!

Keep up to date with all the latest from the tournament here.
