LALIGA and Wakatake Group announced the official launch of LALIGA Camps Japan 2024 as part of their long-term partnership, which has now been strengthened by this new edition following on from the success in 2023. The announcement took place at LALIGA headquarters in Madrid, where Joel Santos, Managing Director, and Miguel Muñoz, Director of Operations, from Wakatake Group, plus Javier Hernández, Head of LALIGA Academy, and Juan Florit, Head of LALIGA Sports Projects, were present. Under this programme, clinics and camps at various levels will be held in four venues across Japan using the LALIGA Methodology: Yamanashi, Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, from August 14th to 24th (https://www.laligacampsjapan.com/).
The collaboration between the two organisations has produced excellent results over the last four years: Around 400 young Japanese footballers have already trained with LALIGA and Wakatake in the various training stages that have taken place both in Spain and in Japan. This is having an extremely positive impact on the general growth of football in Japan and of LALIGA in particular.
The camps and clinics aim to provide players of all levels, aged between 10 and 14, with some of the resources and common elements that make the youth academies of LALIGA clubs a worldwide reference point.
The partnership has also involved numerous LALIGA EA SPORTS and LALIGA HYPERMOTION clubs: Athletic Club, Atlético de Madrid, CA Osasuna, Deportivo Alavés, Villarreal CF, Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla FC, Real Betis, Valencia CF, and UD Levante. During these collaborations, players selected by Wakatake Group trained and played with the clubs' youth players, helping to raise the profile and support the development of the clubs on the international stage.
"It's an immense honour to continue working hand in hand with LALIGA for the fourth consecutive season, each year strengthening our alliance by one more step. It's evident that the football bridge between Spain and Japan is becoming more and more solid. At Wakatake Group we honour the responsibility of being able to share our work in the area of grassroots football, so that young people can develop their learning and growth thanks to the initiatives we carry out as a team with LALIGA,” stated Joel Santos, Managing General of Wakatake Group.
“LALIGA Academy maintains its global leadership in grassroots football and has already trained more than 240,000 players in over 55 countries through more than 800 different sports projects on five continents. Currently, there are 13 countries with programmes under the LALIGA Camps format, with Japan being one of the most important, as it's a strategic region for LALIGA. All of our experience is reflected in the quality of the short-term programmes that we implement at international level, which follow the exclusive LALIGA Methodology, underpinned by a philosophy of comprehensive player training,” said Javier Hernández, Head of LALIGA Academy.
