Several familiar faces marked transfer deadline day in LaLiga, which featured a number of deals at Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante clubs, with Denis Cheryshev and Levante UD taking centre stage.
The Russian was involved in one of the highest-profile moves of the winter window, leaving Real Madrid to join Valencia CF on loan for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Levante UD were among the most active Liga BBVA clubs, bringing in five players, including three on deadline day. The Colombian Mauricio Cuero, plus Carl Medjani and Lucas Orban have come on board at the Granotes, who have also brought Giuseppe Rossi and Joan Verdu back to LaLiga.
Likewise making moves at the 11th hour were Granada CF, who have snapped up David Barral and Ricardo Costa, two more returnees to the Spanish top flight. The Andalusians also sealed deals for the midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure and the goalkeeper Jesus Fernandez.
Rayo Vallecano are another club who made four signings, as well as allowing Guinean winger Lass to go out on loan to Stade de Reims. Paco Jemez will be able to call on Piti, Manuel Iturra, Jose Angel Crespo and Armenia international Aras Ozbiliz in the second half of the season. Malaga CF and Getafe CF both also did some late business, the former welcoming Ikechukwu Uche back to the Liga BBVA and capturing Federico Ricca, while the latter have landed Alvaro Pereira. Real Betis, for their part, have strengthened by securing Martin Montoya and Charly Musonda for the remainder of the campaign.
One of the big movers and shakers in the Liga Adelante were RCD Mallorca. The outfit from the Balearic Islands have picked up Lago Junior, Oscar Diaz, Alfredo Ortuno, Diogo Salomao and Adrian Colunga. Real Zaragoza were also busy working away right down to the wire and eventually added Juan Emmanuel Culio, Jean Marie Dongou, Joan Campins, Javi Ros, Alberto Guitian and Manu Lanzarote to their squad.
