Volkswagen, LALIGA, and Liga F have today signed a strategic agreement under which the German automobile manufacturer becomes the official sponsor of LALIGA EA SPORTS and LALIGA HYPERMOTION in Spain, and a global sponsor of Liga F Moeve for the upcoming seasons. The agreement was signed by Jorge de la Vega, Executive Managing Director of LALIGA; Pablo Vilches, CEO of Liga F; and Enrique Pifarré, General Manager of Volkswagen Spain, at an event held at LALIGA’s headquarters in Madrid.
This multi-season partnership positions Volkswagen as the official car of both competitions in the coming years. The German brand thus reinforces its strong ties with the world’s most popular sport, embracing values such as effort, perseverance, and social commitment, while also boosting the visibility of women’s football. Volkswagen will carry out numerous joint actions with LALIGA and its clubs, focused on sustainability, electrification, and fan proximity.
“Today we announce our collaboration with the best league in the world,” said Enrique Pifarré, General Manager of Volkswagen Spain. “This agreement makes perfect sense for us because it connects two passions deeply rooted in society: football and cars. Through this partnership with LALIGA and Liga F, we aim to get closer to those who live sport with passion, accompanying them with more sustainable, innovative, and emotionally engaging mobility,” he added.
Jorge de la Vega, Executive Director of LALIGA, stated: “We are very proud to welcome Volkswagen as an official sponsor. This alliance not only strengthens our commitment to sustainability and innovation but also demonstrates that sport can be a catalyst for positive change. Together, we will work to bring football closer to society from a more conscious, inclusive, and transformative perspective”.
After the signing, Pablo Vilches, CEO of Liga F, expressed his satisfaction, highlighting: “It is an honour for Liga F to announce this agreement with a globally prestigious brand like Volkswagen. We are building strategic partnerships that not only support the visibility and growth of our competition but also help foster sustainability and innovation within women’s football. We share common values in our passion for sport and the importance of responsible mobility that respects our environment. These kinds of collaborations are key to strengthening the growth of both clubs and players, while also deepening the bond with fans to elevate Liga F as one of the most competitive and respected leagues in the world”.
Volkswagen, LALIGA, and Liga F share a vision based on a passion for sport, responsible innovation, and social commitment. They are united by values such as collective effort, perseverance, and equality – pillars that allow them to connect with millions of people and contribute to a committed, inclusive, and fan-oriented future.
As part of this agreement, Volkswagen will carry out multiple initiatives with LALIGA and the 42 clubs competing in LALIGA EA SPORTS and LALIGA HYPERMOTION, as well as the 16 Liga F Moeve clubs. Sustainability, electrification, and fan engagement will be at the heart of this partnership.
Volkswagen has long maintained a close and strategic relationship with football, establishing itself as one of the sport’s main supporters globally. As the official mobility partner of UEFA from 2018 to 2022, it participated in elite competitions such as the UEFA EURO, the Nations League, and the Under-21 European Championship.
The German brand was also a sponsor of the recently concluded UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, held in Switzerland from July 2 to 27. In this tournament, Volkswagen partnered with 7 of the 16 national teams as a main sponsor. This long-standing connection with football not only enhances Volkswagen’s brand image but also promotes shared values such as teamwork, sustainability, and the mobility of the future.
In Germany, the Volkswagen Group is the sole owner of VfL Wolfsburg, the team from the city that houses the company’s headquarters. In Spain, Volkswagen has previously partnered with Atlético de Madrid and Valencia CF, and currently sponsors other local teams through its dealership network.
