The first third of the LALIGA EA SPORTS campaign is now in the books, and it’s clear which clubs and players are enjoying a good start to the season. Across the first 14 matchdays, the likes of Athletic Club, Villarreal CF, CA Osasuna and RCD Mallorca have impressed, as well as leaders FC Barcelona, whose players have already scooped up a number of LALIGA AWARDS. Just behind are Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, who have also had bright moments as they remain in the LALIGA EA SPORTS title race. At an individual level, several players have already caught the eye, and we take a look at several below.

Robert Lewandowski: The clear leader in the Pichichi race

There are players who are enjoying a bright start to the campaign and who are among the top players in all of Europe, not just LALIGA EA SPORTS. One of them is the current leader in the race to win the Pichichi Trophy, the prize for the league’s top scorer, and that is Robert Lewandowski, who has bagged 15 goals in 14 matches, averaging more than a goal per game.

He already holds a large lead over the next-top scorers, with three players level in second place on eight goals. That includes his Barça teammate Raphinha, Real Madrid star Vinícius and CA Osasuna striker Ante Budimir. Just behind on seven goals are Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and Villarreal CF’s Ayoze Pérez, with the latter leading the race for the Zarra Trophy, the prize for the top-scoring Spaniard of each season. In that race, Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo are also among the contenders, currently on five goals each.

Lamine Yamal: The player with the most assists

FC Barcelona’s Spanish forward Lamine Yamal is the competition’s top assist man, with seven assists already, placing him ahead of the Brazilians Raphinha and Vinícius. The young Barça winger has been key to the success of his team, setting up his fellow strikers time and time again.

Over the first few weeks of the season, Lamine Yamal has been a truly fundamental piece in Hansi Flick’s system. He is also one of the players completing the most dribbles, with Raphinha, Olmo and Lewandowski benefitting from his skill.

Vinícius and Lamine Yamal: The top dribblers in LALIGA EA SPORTS

Across the whole competition, the player dribbling the most is Real Madrid’s Vinícius, with 84 dribbles. He is known around the world for being an elite winger and his ability to get past defenders opens up opportunities for Carlo Ancelotti’s team and for himself, with the Brazilian already boasting eight goals and five assists this campaign.

Lamine Yamal ranks second in this ranking, with 79 dribbles despite having played one game less. At 17 years of age, he is already one of the most dangerous forwards in the world. Then, in third place, is Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, with 73 dribbles, with the Spain international returning to his best form.

Joan García: The goalkeeper in LALIGA EA SPORTS with the most saves

RCD Espanyol goalkeeper Joan García is another player who has stood out this term. The 23-year-old has made the most saves so far, with 54. Second in this category is CA Osasuna’s Sergio Herrera, with 50 stops, which has been key to the Pamplona-based team reaching the European positions. Rounding off the podium is Real Valladolid’s Karl Hein, with 46 parries.

David Soria and Álex Remiro: The favourites for LALIGA EA SPORTS’ Zamora Award

When it comes to the Zamora Award, of the goalkeepers to have featured in every game so far the best-positioned are Getafe CF’s David Soria and Real Sociedad’s Álex Remiro. In the race to win this prize for the best goals-against ratio, they have 0.79 goals conceded per game each, with 11 goals let in across 14 matches. Meanwhile, Jan Oblak, with 0.62, and Thibaut Courtois, with 0.70, have better ratios, but have played fewer games. At club level, it’s Atlético de Madrid who have conceded the fewest total goals, with just eight, while Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Getafe CF are level on 11.
