Real Madrid and CA Osasuna will come head to head at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Matchday 13 of LALIGA EA SPORTS. Los Blancos are hoping to keep pace with FC Barcelona in the title race, while Los Rojillos want to maintain their good run of form and remain in the European qualification positions, where they are currently.
Ahead of this matchday, Real Madrid are second on 24 points after 11 matches, having played one game fewer since last weekend’s fixture against Valencia CF was postponed as a result of the DANA storm in the Valencian Community.
Given that they lost to FC Barcelona in their previous league game, ending a 42-match unbeaten streak in the competition and their run of not losing at home in a year and a half, Real Madrid will be determined to get back to winning ways in front of their home fans this weekend. They know that these three points are vital if they are to keep their hopes of retaining the LALIGA EA SPORTS title alive.
Meanwhile, CA Osasuna come into this round in fifth place, having enjoyed a brilliant start to the campaign. They currently sit on 21 points and are actually only three behind their upcoming opponent. New coach Vicente Moreno has done excellently so far and now he’ll target what would be CA Osasuna’s first win at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in over 20 years, since they last tasted victory there on April 11th 2004, when they won 3-0.
Vinícius and Kylian Mbappé hope to get Real Madrid back on track
The two stars of Real Madrid’s attack are, without a doubt, Vinícius and Kylian Mbappé, and they’ll both be hoping to lead the team to victory. To do so, they’ll be tasked with breaking down the visitors’ solid back line. Vinícius has five goals and four assists so far this league campaign, while Mbappé is the team’s top scorer with his six goals and one assist.
In previous seasons, Real Madrid have managed to strike an optimal balance between attack and defence and this has helped them compete for so many titles. Recently, though, they’ve conceded a lot of goals. Even though their past three games have all been at home, against Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona and AC Milan, they’ve let in nine goals across those games. Perhaps the solution is to score even more goals, and Rodrygo Goes should come back from the injury that ruled him out of ELCLASICO to provide Carlo Ancelotti with another option.
CA Osasuna are the only LALIGA EA SPORTS team to conquer FC Barcelona
It certainly won’t be easy for Los Blancos, not least because CA Osasuna know how to steal the ball and launch deadly counters. In fact, they are the only team to have defeated Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona so far this league campaign, and they did so by an impressive 4-2 scoreline. They always play with intensity and look for their target man up front, Ante Budimir, who is the team’s top scorer with six goals.
As well as Budimir, the Navarre club also have Bryan Zaragoza as an attacking threat, while Aimar Oroz adds quality in the midfield. It truly does promise to be an epic matchup this Saturday at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, as the defending champs take on one of the breakout teams.
