This LALIGA EA SPORTS season is proving to be an especially competitive one, both at the top of the table and down at the bottom. Nobody knows who’ll finish where and one of the most intriguing battles isneighbourhood one, where certain sides are playing well enough to dream of what would be an unexpected qualification for continental competition. That’s the case with Rayo Vallecano, who currently sit in the European qualification spots after going nine league games without defeat.

Iñigo Pérez’s side have hit a new record in LALIGA EA SPORTS, going nine games unbeaten thanks to their 1-0 win over Real Valladolid on Friday night. This means they’ve surpassed the run of eight league games without losing, set under Francisco in 2023/24. This new record is now written into the club’s history books, and it is allowing the fans to dream of European adventures.

A solid team in every position

Iñigo Pérez has constructed a team that is very difficult to beat, and Rayo Vallecano’s structure stands out for their excellent pressing, as they’re usually chasing after the opposition to steal the ball in the other team’s half. Rayo Vallecano are also a very physical team, which causes other difficulties for their rivals, while they look to get forward quickly and make the most of their excellent full-backs and wingers.

They have various players who are making a difference, such as goalkeeper Augusto Batalla, who is putting in fantastic performances. Los Franjirrojos have conceded the sixth-fewest goals this season, with 24, which is only beaten by the goals against records of Atlético de Madrid (15), Getafe CF (17), Real Sociedad and Athletic Club (20) and Real Madrid (22). The Argentinian goalkeeper has conceded just 18 of the 24 goals let in by the team as a whole and even kept clean sheets in his past two games.

Of course, these great defensive stats require a solid defensive line too, and the centre-back pairing of Abdul Mumin and Florian Lejeune is one of the best in the division. Moreover, they have four very good full-backs in Andrei Rațiu and Iván Balliu on the right and Pacha Espino and Pep Chavarría on the left.

In midfield, Pathé Ciss, Unai López, Óscar Valentín and Pedro Díaz keep the team rolling, as they can win the ball back and play it forward too. As such, the more attacking players have a certain level of freedom, which top scorer Jorge de Frutos is making the most of. The veteran Álvaro García is also playing well and now has 25 goals in LALIGA EA SPORTS with Rayo Vallecano, just three goals behind Alberto Bueno, the player with the most top-flight goals in the club’s history. Alongside them is Isi Palazón, who boasts tremendous quality, vision and the generosity to help his teammates shine. This is a well-oiled machine, and this Rayo Vallecano side have the whole neighbourhood dreaming of what could be a historic season in LALIGA EA SPORTS.
