LaLiga president Javier Tebas accompanied Scholas Occurrentes in a meeting with Pope Francis on Wednesday, as part of the organisation's World Congress. The aim of the trip was for a group of students from Madrid to present a series of proposals to be implemented in school classrooms around the world.
The delegation was headed by Jose Maria del Corral and Enrique Palmeyro, the global directors of Scholas Occurrentes appointed by the Pope. The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, was also present alongside them at the event, together with Alejandro Dominguez, the president of CONMEBOL, the Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho and Costa Rica international Bryan Ruiz.
Furthermore, Pope Francis announced that the second edition of the 'Match for Peace' will be held at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on 29 May. "This match seeks to demonstrate that we are all capable of making peace through sport and art. I invite you to this match," said the pontiff.
LaLiga has been collaborating with the Scholas Occurrentes Foundation campaign for building peace through sport and education since last month. Sevilla FC and Atletico Madrid symbolically planted the 'Olive Tree of Peace' as part of this initiative.
