Real Murcia CF have had an enviable start to the Liga Adelante 2013/14 season and only the club on top of the pile, RC Recreativo de Huelva, are ahead of them. The team managed by Julio Velázquez has 17 points from a possible 27 and currently occupies second position in the table. The main architect of the side's success so far this season is its coach.
Murcia is the second-highest goal-scoring team in the Liga Adelante, having found the net 16 times, but its most significant statistic is that 14 of them have come from dead-ball situations; free-kicks, corners and penalties. Only two of their goals have come from normal play.
After the 2-3 loss in the first match to Recreativo, Murcia has accumulated five victories, two draws and a defeat in the Liga Adelante, and apart from the goalless draw against SD Eibar, they have scored from a dead-ball in all of their matches, giving the team from Murcia 16 points from its total of 17.
Even in the matches it has lost so far this season, against the leaders and against Real Jaén CF (3-2), a dead-ball and two penalties were the sources of Julio Velázquez's outfit's goals.
Murcia's next match will be in the Estadio de Gran Canaria, when they visit UD Las Palmas on matchday ten of the Liga Adelante.
