On Tuesday afternoon, Liga Adelante team Deportivo Alavés announced that Nacho González is no longer their coach.
"The team's results and their position were the deciding factors in the club's decision", according to a statement from the Vitoria side, who have now played seven games without a win in the Liga Adelante and are in the relegation zone. Nacho González was in his second season at Alavés, with whom he won promotion to the Liga Adelante last season.
In the same statement, Alavés confirmed that "the new man at the helm will be Juan Carlos Mandiá, a man with vast experience in the world of professional football". Mandiá, who will be officially presented on Wednesday and will make his debut with Alavés on Saturday against RC Deportivo de La Coruña on matchday 17 of the Liga Adelante, has managed Real Madrid Castilla, CD Tenerife and Hércules CF, among other teams.
