UD Las Palmas came back against Hércules CF to win 2-1 on matchday 34 of the Liga Adelante. The result means that the Canary Islanders have consolidated their third place with 54 points, while the side from Alicante, depending on Sunday’s results, could end the weekend at the bottom of the table.
An early goal from Adrián Sardinero in the second minute of the match gave the Alicante side the lead in a first half that offered few chances on goal to either team. The home side began to control the match and went goal hunting before the break. Asdrúbal and Apoño tested goalkeeper Oinatz Aulestia, but the latter was up to the task.
In the second half Héctor Figueroa replaced Juan Carlos Valerón and the Canary Island striker made it 1-1 after just three minutes on the pitch to give his team the confidence it needed to mount a comeback. The referee pointed to the spot after the visitors’ goal-scorer pulled back Xabi Castillo and Momo duly converted to give Sergio Lobera’s side the win.
