As part of LaLiga's mission to share its professional expertise, the institution and its sporting projects department have been running a training course for coaches in Abuja, Nigeria over the last couple of days. Organised in conjunction with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and LaLiga's office in the West African country, the course concludes today, Monday 6 March. It is the latest joint project between LaLiga and the NPFL, who signed a collaboration agreement last year.
The Spanish coaches teaching the course, David Aznar and Oscar Bruzon, have been working with a group of more than 100 budding Nigerian coaches, conducting sessions covering technical, tactical and fitness aspects alike. The participants will receive a certificate acknowledging their completion of the course.
The main goals of LaLiga's sporting projects department are to disseminate knowledge both domestically and internationally and to promote participation in sport. Its educational initiatives are always tailored to the circumstances, geared towards maximising development and based on LaLiga's principles of quality, efficiency and efficacy.
As well as holding courses for coaches, such as this one in Nigeria and the ones run hand in hand with US Club Soccer, talent identification and the creation of academies and technical centres are among the other activities carried out by the department.
