Malaysia crowned its top player: Putera Sufrie Nizam bin Subardron from Kuala Lumpur, who took home RM2,500 and an unforgettable opportunity to travel to Spain. Organized by EA SPORTS and LALIGA, with AEON as the proud Title Sponsor and Vertex Esports as the local partner, the grand finale of the “LALIGA Beat the Best” tournament unfolded at SP Sports Park in Kuala Lumpur. The event saw the participation of LALIGA Legend Luis Garcia – former star of FC Barcelona and Atletico de Madrid – who energized the crowd and personally awarded the champion.

The 16 finalists battled it out in front of an excited crowd, with live casting by Aiman Sekaichi and Higen, and a full weekend of activities including fan challenges and a friendly match of FC 25 with Luis García himself.

What sets Malaysia apart is its inclusion in an elite group of just three countries—alongside China and the USA—that host this hybrid online-offline format for “Beat the Best.” This unique integration bridges the emotional highs of live football with the immersive intensity of competitive gaming.

“AEON is proud to support LALIGA Beat the Best because we believe in shaping the future of youth engagement. Esports today is more than a game - it’s a cultural and social space where our younger generation expresses themselves, builds community and aspires to be seen on a global stage. Our support reflects AEON’s commitment to progress, inclusivity and creating lifestyle experiences that matter,” said Low Ngai Yuen, Chief Merchandise and Marketing Officer of AEON. “When we speak of being close to our customers, it means showing up where they are - and for Gen Z and young Malaysians, that includes the esports arena.”

Adrián Prol, Delegate of LALIGA in Malaysia, emphasized, “We are very happy because the event was a success and all the fans were excited to meet a legend like Luis García, who has a very special relationship with the country. The main pillar of LALIGA strategy in Malaysia is the development of grassroots football, from Youth Football projects such as LALIGA Academy or LALIGA Youth Tournament to eSports. These kinds of projects are strategic for LALIGA, as we are global leaders and pioneers in the integration of the virtual and real worlds of football.”

Kelvin Tee, Chief Marketing Officer of Vertex Esports, added, “Working with LALIGA and AEON to bring this project to life has been exciting, and we are hopeful to have delivered an entertaining and sporting event that exceeds the expectations of our attendees, players and partners. We would like to acknowledge and thank the part AEON has played in championing esports development and growth in Malaysia and we hope that other companies can follow suit to ensure that Malaysia as a country continues its traditions to be the birthplace of great sportspersons as the Malaysian legends in other fields of sports. We at Vertex are glad to be a part of the ecosystem and pledge to do more in the future.”

The goal of this project by LALIGA and EA SPORTS is to bring eSports even closer to the general public, a trend in continuous growth globally that has even influenced the graphics of the audiovisual broadcasts of LALIGA matches, which are inspired by the aesthetics of videogames
