UD Las Palmas goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has returned to Gran Canaria following successful surgery for an intestinal perforation, sustained after a heavy collision with Borja Iglesias during their match against RC Celta at ABANCA Balaídos 10 days ago.
After spending a week recovering in Vigo, the Dutch international is now back on the island, fully focused on getting back onto the pitch as soon as possible to support his side in their battle for LALIGA survival.
Upon arrival at Gran Canaria airport, Cillessen shared an update: “I’m feeling really good now. It hasn't been an easy week, but things have significantly improved. I'm happy to be back here to continue my recovery. We'll see how things progress; I have more tests scheduled next week.”
The goalkeeper also admitted that the initial days after surgery were challenging, but his desire to return to action remains strong. “The first day was very tough,” he acknowledged, “but now I’m just eager to get back out there.”
