Sevilla FC take on Rayo Vallecano in the Ramon Sánchez-Pizjuán for matchday six of the Liga BBVA season (20:00 CET), and both teams need a win in order to get over their poor starts to the domestic campaign.
The Andalusian side is rock bottom of the league, having only picked up two points from five games, and head into this crucial tie against the Madrid outfit with a number of absentees, like Carriço, Cicinho, Federico Fazio and Nico Pareja, the last of whom was revealed to have pulled a muscle during Tuesday’s medical examination. "I’m not going to look for excuses for us only having two points. Every time I lose is difficult. I still have faith in this project, but we do need wins", Unai Emery, the Sevilla coach, announced in his pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, Paco Jemez, who will be without Iago Falqué and José Carlos, is also in desperate need of three points after having suffered three successive defeats. His one and only victory in the current campaign came against Elche in the opening day of the season. "It’s a match Sevilla will be very pumped up for. The fact that Sevilla is rock bottom is arbitrary. They have one of the best squads in the league. We do a lot of things well but need to work on our mistakes because they are costing us a lot", the Madrid coach declared.
