Real Jaén CF earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw against the league leaders RC Deportivo de La Coruña in the 20th round of Liga Adelante matches.
The league leaders, who were aware of the fact a win here would allow them to move ahead of their immediate rivals, were the first to try their luck and Luisinho could have put the Galician side in front twice. Equality was very much the order of the first half, and despite the fact Depor created the clearest openings, especially in the last few minutes, the Andalusian side also might have put themselves ahead, but it was 0-0 after 45 minutes.
The high-tempo continued at the start of the second half, and it was Jaén who dominated possession, forcing Germán Lux into action. Despite this, Deportivo could have taken the lead in the 73rd minute when Luis Fernández might have done better. Fran Machado hit back and went close for home side, however it wasn’t to be, and the score line remained the same.
The only negative from the match was the injury to Jaén’s Raúl Gaitán, who was to leave the field after only four minutes.
