There is a blockbuster match coming up this Saturday April 5th at the Estadi Olímpic, where FC Barcelona and Real Betis will meet in Matchday 30 of LALIGA EA SPORTS. Even still, this has all the makings of being a fantastic game at the Estadi Olímpices undefeated in league play and Real Betis six. In the case of the Catalan outfit, their impressive run has put them top of the table on 66 points and they’re looking to strengthen that position. Meanwhile, Los Verdiblancos six sixth on 47 points, and are fighting to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the second time in club history.
Looking at the head-to-head record between these clubs, Barça hold the edge with 85 victories from 141 total meetings. In fact, the Andalusians haven’t won this fixture in the league since 2021/22 and 10 out of the past 12 league meetings have gone the way of Barça. However, the first clash this season ended in a 2-2 draw, with Los Verdiblancos equalising in stoppage time. As for players to watch, Ferran Torres has an excellent direct record against Los Béticos, including a hat-trick scored last season.
FC Barcelona: A seemingly unstoppable leader
Hansi Flick’s side have been in superb form and they just thrashed Girona FC 4-1, meaning they’re still undefeated this calendar year. That most recent league victory took their record for 2025 to 17 wins and three draws across 20 matches. The run of form isn’t too surprising when looking at their devastating attack, with Pichichi leader Robert Lewandowski having netted 25 league goals, Raphinha 13 and Lamine Yamal six.
Not only are Los Culés scoring a lot of goals, but they’re hardly conceding any either. That’s how Wojciech Szczęsny has managed to go undefeated across his first 18 appearances for the Catalan institution.
In this game, FC Barcelona will be without Dani Olmo and Marc Casadó because of their recent injuries, while there are also the long-term injuries of Marc-André ter Stegen, Marc Bernal and Andreas Christensen.
Real Betis: Dreaming of a return to the Champions League
At Real Betis, they’re dreaming of returning to the Champions League. It’s a real possibility, with fourth-placed Athletic Club just six points away and with Real Betis sitting level in fifth with Villarreal CF, aware that fifth could end up being a Champions League spot too. With a seven-point lead over seventh, qualifying for some form of European competition looks likely yet again.
They’re full of confidence after a triumphant 2-1 win in ELGRANDERBI against Sevilla FC, which made Manuel Pellegrini the first coach in club history to reach 80 wins in LALIGA EA SPORTS, as well as equalling their all-time record for consecutive wins in the top flight with six. It truly is a great run of form for Los Verdiblancos, who started this month-and-a-half-long winning streak in the league with a 3-0 home win over Real Sociedad and who have kept winning ever since.
There are several players at Real Betis who are making this possible, such as Antony. He joined in January and has started in all eight of his LALIGA EA SPORTS appearances, scoring two goals and assisting two more. Another top player has been Isco, who has six goals and four assists in his past eight games across all competitions, but he’ll be missing with suspension for this next game, as will the injured Marc Roca. Even still, this has all the makings of being a fantastic game at the Estadi Olímpic, one football fans around the world will be watching.
