SD Huesca 2-1 CF Reus
The hosts produced a never-say-die display to see off Reus at El Alcoraz. The Catalans, who have proved to be one of the surprise packages so far this term, drew first blood when Mayor
fired them ahead on 16 minutes, but Huesca went on to stage a sterling second-half comeback
to take all three points. Samu Saiz levelled from the spot and later turned provider when he
led the visitors' backline a merry dance down the right, before crossing for Gonzalo Melero to stroke the ball home to complete the comeback.
R. Zaragoza 2-1 UD Almeria
Whilst a suspension carried over from his time at CD Tenerife last season may have prevented
him from taking his place in the home dugout, new Zaragoza coach, Raul Agne would have
been pleased with what he saw as his new charges overcame Almeria. Victory here sees the
Aragonese outfit bring an end to their six-game winless run, whilst defeat condemns the
Andalusians to the drop zone. Strikes from Javi Ros and Angel put the hosts into a commanding
position, before Quique Gonzalez converted from the spot to give the visitors a glimmer of
hope, but Zaragoza ultimately held firm to get Agne's reign off to the best possible start.
CD Tenerife 3-2 Rayo Vallecano
Defeat in Tenerife leaves the Madrilenians still searching for their first away win of the
campaign. On this occasion, the Vallecas outfit were undone by a Choco Lozano finish and an
Amath N'Diaye brace, as an impressive Tenerife side ultimately proved too strong for the
visitors. Strikes from Fran Beltran and Manucho twice reduced the deficit, but the islanders
saw the game out to claim all three points.
Cordoba CF 1-1 R. Valladolid CF
These two teams contrived to cancel each other out in a stalemate which does little for either
side's hopes. All of the goal action came just before the interval, with Jose Antonio Caro
putting the Andalusians into the ascendancy on 41', only for Michel Herrero to draw the
visitors level just four minutes later. There were no further goals after the break as the spoils
were shared at the Nuevo Arcangel.
Girona FC 3-0 CD Numancia
Girona further extended their unbeaten home record with a comfortable win at Montilivi.
Goals from Alex Granell and Portu inside the opening 11 minutes set the Catalans on their way,
before Pere Pons added a third on 37' to hand the hosts a 3-0 half-time lead. Numancia failed
to produce a comeback in the second period as Girona registered a resounding victory.
Sevilla Atletico 2-0 Elche CF
Sevilla At.'s dream start to life in LaLiga 1|2|3 shows no sign of abating, as the Sevillians,
roared on by a 12,000-strong crowd at the Sanchez-Pizjuan, produced another fine
performance to rack up a fourth straight win. Second-half strikes from Curro and Ivi Lopez
were enough to see off Elche and propel the hosts into the playoff places.
CD Lugo 0-1 Cadiz CF
The Galicians slumped to a third consecutive defeat against a Cadiz side who came into the game on the back of three consecutive draws. The visitors made the break-through in the 64th minute when Dani Güiza conjured a wonderful backheel for Alvaro Garcia to net the game's only goal.
Nastic 2-2 RCD Mallorca
This fixture provided attractive football, excitement aplenty and goals – four of them to be precise. The hosts twice forged ahead at the Nou Estadi, only to twice be pegged back by the islanders. Brandon was the two-goal hero for Mallorca, with his second equaliser coming in the dying stages and taking his overall tally for the season to six.
AD Alcorcon 1-0 CD Mirandes
Alcorcon edged to victory at the Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo thanks to a goal from prolific striker David Rodriguez. Rodriguez sealed all three points with a sensational header that found its way into the corner of the net, giving goalkeeper Sergio Perez no chance.
UCAM Murcia CF 0-1 R. Oviedo
Lady Luck was smiling on Fernando Hierro's men at La Condomina and they made the most to go away with a hard-earned victory. A deflected Hector Verdes header from a corner was enough to snatch the spoils for the visitors, who had earlier seen Juan Gongora screw a penalty wide for UCAM.
Levante UD 1-1 Getafe CF
Getafe's Jose Bordalas bounce continues. League leaders Levante became the latest side to fail to get the better of the Madrilenians, who are unbeaten in five under their new manager. Though they will be disappointed not to have captured maximum points, the draw increases the home team's cushion at the top of the standings, while Getafe remain in the comfort of mid-table.
