- The Pamplona outfit come into the showpiece in simply devastating form. They ended the regular season with a 5-0 away drubbing of Real Oviedo, before seeing off the playoff's highest finishers, Gimnastic, courtesy of a 3-1 home win and a 3-2 away triumph.
- Mikel Merino is the name on everyone's lips right now. The 19-year-old central midfielder was the star of the tie against Nastic, notching three goals and claiming an audacious back-heel assist over the two games.
Girona:
- Despite only narrowly edging past Cordoba CF in extra time, the Catalans also head into the showpiece in fine spirits and brimming with confidence. Pablo Machin's charges managed to reverse the Andalusians' 2-1 first-leg advantage and indeed right throughout the season their form has been on an upward spiral.
- One of the key men in the Girona ranks is striker, Cristian Herrera. The Canary Islander was on target on the last day of the season in the 1-0 away with over SD Ponferradina and he added to his tally with two goals in the semi-final tie against Cordoba.
