Getafe, Cadiz and Tenerife book their playoff places

While Girona assured themselves of direct promotion to LaLiga Santander, the dream is even closer for the other three teams, who will battle it out in the playoffs. The matchday also saw Mallorca and Elche bid farewell to LaLiga 1l2l3.

CD Lugo 1-0 Levante UD

The match played at the Angel Carro kicked off Matchday 41 of LaLiga 1l2l3. Although there was nothing at stake, Lugo and Levante played a hard-fought game. A goal from Joselu three minutes from time gave the home side all three points. Lugo produced a final victory in front of their home fans and managed it against the leaders of the division. 

CD Mirandes 2-2 RCD Mallorca

Los Rojillos were already relegated heading into the game, but they had set themselves the task of putting in a good performance in front of their fans and leaving them with something positive. And they did so in a great match which ended all square and which, with Nastic's victory over Tenerife, leaves Mallorca out of LaLiga 1l2l3 next season. Despite goals from Juan Culio and Dejan Lekic, Los Bermellones were unable to save themselves from relegation to Segunda Division B.

Getafe CF 4-0 UD Almeria

A place in the playoffs is now a certainty for Getafe, who have proven to be extremely strong at home all season and got the job done at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on this the penultimate matchday. On the flip side, Almeria are left to battle it out for survival next weekend. Two goals by Chuli, another by Cala and a fourth from Jorge Molina saw Los Azulones close out their season in style at their home ground.

CF Reus 2-0 R. Valladolid CF

Los Blanquivioletas were unable to register an away victory and will continue their bid to claim the last playoff place on the final LaLiga 1l2l3 matchday. Reus, meanwhile, gave their home fans a fantastic send-off, securing survival with two superb goals by Vitor Silva and Alberto Benito in front of their faithful.

Cadiz CF 2-1 Elche CF

The match at the Ramon de Carranza brought mixed fortunes. It was a joyful afternoon for the Andalusians as they booked their place in the playoffs, while Elche bid farewell to LaLiga 1l2l3 after a disappointing season. Sergio Pelegrin, with an own goal, Salvi, and Guillermo were the names on the scoresheet.

Real Oviedo 1-0 Sevilla Atletico

The Asturians will also do battle for a playoff place on the final matchday, thanks to their home victory through Christian Fernandez's left-footed strike into the top-right corner from inside the area. Nestor Susaeta claimed the assist following a free-kick.

Rayo Vallecano 1-2 Cordoba CF

Rayo and Cordoba will both play in LaLiga 1l2l3 next season after ensuring their survival. The clash between the two teams ended in victory for the visitors after coming back from a goal down. Raul Baena opened the scoring for the home side just five minutes in, but goals from Javi Galan and Alejandro Alfaro clinched the three points for Cordoba.

Girona FC 0-0 R. Zaragoza 

Pablo Machin's charges produced a goalless draw at Montilivi against Zaragoza to guarantee their promotion to the Spanish top flight with one game still to play in LaLiga 1l2l3. Los Albirrojos will form part of LaLiga Santander for the first time in the club's history. The teammanaged by Machin produced some outstanding results on the road to their promotion, notching up 20 victories and netting 64 goals. Furthermore, they have not surrendered second place in the table since taking up the position on Matchday 15.

CD Tenerife 0-1 Nastic

The islanders secured a promotion playoff place even though they were unable to win at home. It is a dream come true for Tenerife after a great season by Pep Marti's charges. The result also offers Nastic some breathing room as they continue their bid to remain in LaLiga 1l2l3 next season.

UCAM Murcia 0-1 AD Alcorcon 

Los Alfareros came out on top in this relegation showdown through a Pablo Perez goal on 41 minutes. Despite the three points, neither the Madrilenians nor the Murcians are safe and both will have to wait until the final matchday to learn their fate. However, Julio Velazquez's charges can now only achieve salvation through a positive result in the final game.

SD Huesca 0-0 CD Numancia

The stalemate at El Alcoraz meant that the points were shared, keeping Huesca's dreams of promotion to LaLiga Santander alive. They will battle it out for the final playoff place with R. Valladolid and R. Oviedo in this season's final set of fixtures. Can they produce the goods?
