Cosmin Contra's Getafe made multiple changes to their starting eleven, most notably Brazilian goalkeeper Júlio Cesar's inclusion at the expense of Jordi Codina. The Madrid side got off to a good start and created chances. But Levante, well positioned as ever, gradually recouped, and Víctor Casadesús was close to putting his team ahead on the quarter of an hour mark.
Getafe responded with a couple of chances for Pedro León and Adrián Colunga, but Keylor Navas stopped them with little difficulty. It was the best spell for Contra's side in the first half, but they were unable to take the lead. In the second half Levante went out with more enthusiasm and started to spend more time in the granota box. Jordi Xumetra and Babá Diawara had two big chances after an hour's play, but defence continued to prevail over attack.
In the final stages, and with plenty of fresh legs on the field for both teams, slip-ups created a few chances. Alexis Ruano was sent off on 81 minutes but the score remained the same and Levante and Getafe shared the points.
