Beñat San José, the new coach of SD Eibar

Sociedad Deportiva Eibar has officially announced the agreement with Beñat San José, who replaces Joseba Etxeberria as head coach until June 2026.

Born in Donosti, San José began his career in the youth categories of Real Sociedad. He then moved to Saudi Arabia, becoming the youngest coach in the top tier of Saudi football. San José has an extensive international coaching career, having managed Al-Ittihad and Al-Ettifaq in his first stint in the Middle East. During the 2015-16 season, he started a new chapter in Chile and Bolivia.

In 2018, he returned to the Middle East to lead An-Nasr, and from 2019 to 2021, he had his first European coaching experience with KAS Eupen in the Belgian league.

Bolívar and Mexico have been Beñat San José's latest ventures until now, as he takes on the significant challenge of managing SD Eibar's first team in LaLiga Hypermotion, with the goal of reversing their current form. The Armeros have only one win in their last eight matches and are currently in 17th place in the standings with 33 points.

As reported by the club, the new SD Eibar coach will be officially presented this Tuesday, February 18, in the press room of the Ipurua Stadium.
