Sadiq Umar named LaLiga SmartBank Player of the Month for January

The African attacker Sadiq Umar takes home the LaLiga SmartBank Player of the Month award for January. The UD Almeria player has stolen the spotlight when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net, racking up five of the eight goals scored by the Andalusians in January.

Umar kicked off the year with a magnificent hat-trick in the 3-1 victory over SD Ponferradina. He went on to net one of the goals in Almeria's 2-2 draw against CE Sabadell and got his name on the score sheet again in the 3-1 win over CD Castellon.

His knack for goal has been a real boon for the rojiblancos, helping them to secure seven points out of a possible nine in the first month of the year and to sit third in LaLiga SmartBank in the LaLiga Santander play-off places.
