Atlético de Madrid, who have won all of their league games so far this season, will on Saturday visit the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu intent on taking all three points against their city rivals Real Madrid CF for the first time in Liga BBVA since 1999.
Gareth Bale returns to the Real Madrid squad after suffering a muscle strain in the warm-up against Getafe CF, however both Marcelo and Xabi Alonso will be missing for The Whites, who seek the three points necessary to overtake their neighbours in the league table. “Against Elche we didn’t play well. But against Atlético we’ll be at the top of our game, as you have to be against a team who are in good form. They’re a strong team with lots of confidence, and it will be a difficult game, but we’ve got the chance to go out there and win”, said coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Atlético boss Diego Simeone has included Mario Suárez - who suffered a knee injury in the last game against CA Osasuna - in his squad, however Adrián López remains unavailable for selection. “Madrid are better than us, and they’ve got a great squad. We’ll need to be at 110 percent. They’ve got lots of big-name players who can change a game in a flash, meaning it will be a difficult match for us”, explained the Argentine, who seeks to make this the best start to a season in Atlético’s history.
