It was no easy ride for Sevilla FC in the second match of the Asian tour against Selangor FA, one of the biggest teams in the Malaysia Super League. The first half was a well-balanced encounter in which both teams had chances on goal, the best falling to the Spanish side. The deadlock was broken by a counterattack that ended at Trochowski’s boots. The Pole rifled a left-foot shot past Mohd Hamsani Ahmmad, the Malaysian team’s keeper, and into the back of the net. In the dying minutes of the first half, Diogo Ferreira headed home a José Antonio Reyes cross to bag the second goal of the match.
Sevilla’s second goal broke Selangor’s morale and Unai Emery’s men dominated after the break. With a slower tempo, and feeling the effects of the heat and humidity, both teams took their feet of the pedal and there were fewer chances on goal. Sevilla ends its participation in the LFP World Challenge Asian Tour with two victories and six goals. The UEFA Europa League champions return to Spain having made a great impression as one of the torchbearers of Spanish football.
