Colombia’s Wednesday night victory over Uruguay in Charlotte means they’re back in a Copa America final, keen to win the trophy again for the first time in 23 years. They’ll take on Argentina, the reigning champions after winning the previous edition in Brazil in 2021. The South American and world champions overcame Canada in their semi-final.
Johan Mojica of Colombia wants his first international title. The left-back has been a defensive pillar for his team this tournament, contributing pace and passing accuracy, qualities that he displayed in LALIGA EA SPORTS last term at CA Osasuna, where he was on loan from Villarreal CF. Since 2013, he has built up experience across a variety LALIGA EA SPORTS clubs, namely Rayo Vallecano, Villareal CF, CA Osasuna, Elche CF, Real Valladolid and Girona FC. All in all, he has made 143 appearances in LALIGA EA SPORTS and 133 in LALIGA HYPERMOTION.
Meanwhile, the final will have the presence of multiple Argentina footballers who play in LALIGA EA SPORTS. Two Atlético de Madrid players are in the squad and looking to win another title with their national team. One is Nahuel Molina, who has played 279 minutes so far, and who has been a regular starter at right-back for Diego Simeone at club level, after lifting his first World Cup. In the 2023/24 season, he was the seventh-most-used outfield player by the Argentinean coach, with 3,030 minutes across 46 games. Meanwhile, Rodrigo de Paul is the engine of his club and national teams’ midfields. He assisted the first goal in the semi-finals against Canada, and is known for his brave play and immense contribution to the Qatar World Cup win. Sevilla FC will also be represented in this final through Marcos Acuña, the left-back who has recovered from a muscle strain and who should be available for the showpiece event. In Qatar 2022, he featured in six of the seven matches as Argentina won the trophy. Yet another LALIGA EA SPORTS representative is Germán Pezzella, of Real Betis, who was also a World Cup and Copa America winner in the past, and who also wants to lift another piece of silverware.
This final on July 14th promises to be a spectacle of talent and tactics, with LALIGA players at the heart of the action. Their presence in the final is testament to the standard of football that LALIGA EA SPORTS represents.
