The return of Real Jaén CF to Liga Adelante after 11 years in Segunda División B is living its best moment, and in no small part is that owed to the offensive contribution of Jonathan Mejía, or 'Jona'.
The striker has scored nine of his side's 18 goals, and with his goal last time out against FC Barcelona B, the striker has now scored in six consecutive games. His goals are directly responsible for 13 points, 76% of those gained by Jaén upon their return to Liga Adelante.
After a brief stint in Portuguese football, the Honduras international returned to Spain this season to produce some of his best ever form in front of goal. He is fast approaching the number of goals he scored in 2011/12 in Segunda B with Zamora CF, and CD Ourense in 2012/13.
Jona finds himself second in the goal scoring charts, behind Stefan Šćepović, who scored his 10th goal of the season against CE Sabadell on Sunday.
If he maintains this form all season, Liga Adelante could well have a representative at the FIFA World Cup 2014.
