Five key features of the first half of the LaLiga 1|2|3 season

Levante's romp to the top, Bordalas's impact since taking over at Getafe, Ortuño's goals… these have been some of the top storylines up to the campaign's halfway mark.

The UD Levante express train

Juan Ramon Lopez Muñiz's team are runaway LaLiga 1|2|3 leaders and go into the second half of the season on 46 points, seven ahead of their closest challengers, Girona FC. They have won no fewer than 14 games – including triumphing in their last five on the bounce, in all of which they kept clean sheets – and have lost just three times. Two figures have been particularly influential for the table-toppers, namely Valencian attacker Roger Marti and Seville-born midfielder Jose Campaña. The former has been back to his prolific best, notching up 13 goals, while the latter has been pulling the strings with aplomb in the middle of the park.

Alfredo Ortuño, LaLiga 1|2|3's sharpest shooter

The striker has been a revelation for Cadiz CF, firing the club up to fourth place. Ortuño has only been with the Andalusians since the summer – he joined on loan from UD Las Palmas, whom he had returned to following a spell with RCD Mallorca last term – but has quickly established himself as Alvaro Cervera's main man up front and currently sits joint-top of the division's scoring charts.

The Bordalas bounce

When Jose Bordalas was appointed the Getafe CF manager in late September, the club was in turmoil and was languishing in the lower reaches of the table. Since taking charge, the 52-year-old coach has overseen a dramatic transformation, leading his team up to third – just four points shy of second – by virtue of winning eight of his 14 league matches at the helm and losing just the one.

Sevilla Atletico and CF Reus swiftly find their feet

Before this season, neither the Sevilla youth side nor the Catalans had ever graced the second tier before, but you would never guess as much from their results! Both have taken to the division like ducks to water and are firmly in the playoff picture. Sevilla At. lie seventh on 31 points and have only suffered six defeats, while Reus are just two places and a solitary point behind their fellow newcomers.

Girona's historic exploits

Girona have also been one of the biggest success stories, having recorded their best-ever first half of a LaLiga 1|2|3 campaign. Pablo Machin's troops are second in the table on 39 points, seven adrift of leaders Levante. After missing out on promotion in agonising fashion in three of the last four seasons, the Catalans are determined to avoid the lottery of the playoffs by finishing in the top two this time round.
