Some of the biggest names in world football have landed in LALIGA EA SPORTS this summer, from Kylian Mbappé to Julián Alvarez to Dani Olmo and beyond. Several other intriguing talents have arrived in the competition too, and could change the fortunes of their new teams. Now that the 2024 summer window has closed, let’s take a look at 10 of the top storylines in LALIGA EA SPORTS from the summer market.

Dani Olmo returns to FC Barcelona as a European champion

The star signing for FC Barcelona this window was Dani Olmo, who arrives in Catalonia as a European champion. After he was one of the key players for Spain as they won Euro 2024 in July, Olmo made the move from RB Leipzig to FC Barcelona, rejoining the club whose academy he was in as a youngster. Having scored on his LALIGA EA SPORTS debut, in a 2-1 victory at Rayo Vallecano, Olmo is up and running already.

Kylian Mbappé is now a Real Madrid player

After years of pursuing Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid landed the French forward this summer. The 25-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world and football fans can now watch him week in week out in LALIGA EA SPORTS. After arriving from PSG as a free agent, Mbappé scored and won a trophy in his very first game for Los Blancos, a 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup. Now, he’ll aim to win further silverware over the course of his maiden season in Spain.

Another Colombian superstar for Rayo Vallecano

Although this was the summer in which Radamel Falcao moved on from Rayo Vallecano, the club from Spain’s capital have signed another legend of Colombian football by landing James Rodríguez. The former Real Madrid player has returned to LALIGA EA SPORTS by signing with the team from Vallecas, and there is great anticipation ahead of his debut with Los Franjirrojos.

Villarreal CF shake up the squad

Villarreal CF were among the busiest clubs in all of Europe, as they brought in 10 new players during the window, including some incredible talents. Goalkeeper Luiz Júnior, defenders Willy Kambwala, Logan Costa, Sergi Cardona and Juan Bernat, midfielder Pape Gueye and forwards Ayoze Pérez, Nicolas Pépé and Thierno Barry were all signed.

Julián Alvarez headlines a productive window for Atlético de Madrid

One of the several superstar footballers to have arrived in LALIGA EA SPORTS this summer is Julián Alvarez, who has already won 16 major trophies at the age of 24, including the FIFA World Cup with Argentina and the Champions League with Manchester City. He is now an Atlético de Madrid player, after Los Colchoneros pulled off a blockbuster deal to sign him. Alvarez isn’t the only quality player to have arrived at the Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano, as Robin Le Normand, Conor Gallagher and Alexander Sørloth also joined Atleti this summer.

Bryan Zaragoza is back in LALIGA EA SPORTS

As one of the most talented young Spanish players around, it’s exciting to see Bryan Zaragoza back in LALIGA EA SPORTS. He has joined CA Osasuna on loan from Bayern Munich, after he secured a transfer to the German giants midway through last season, given how well he was playing for Granada CF. Already in his first minutes for the Pamplona-based club, he has shown the explosiveness that made Bayern Munich make that move for him.

The newly promoted clubs show loyalty and ambition

In the case of the newly promoted clubs – CD Leganés, Real Valladolid and RCD Espanyol – this market was all about keeping the players who did so well for them in LALIGA HYPERMOTION last year. They have signed several players who were on loan with them last term, such as CD Leganés keeping Miguel de la Fuente, Juan Cruz and Enric Franquesa via permanent deals or Real Valladolid bringing back Stipe Biuk, Stanko Juric and Raúl Moro. RCD Espanyol have largely kept the squad together too, while also acquiring talented forwards like Alejo Veliz and Irvin Cardona. Furthermore, CD Leganés made a stunning deadline day swoop to bring in Sébastien Haller on loan.

Girona FC retool

The 2024/25 campaign will be a big one for Girona FC as they enter the Champions League for the first time. They have been busy in the transfer window, as several players departed while many have arrived. The Catalan club have managed to retool impressively, bringing in the likes of Donny van de Beek, Gabriel Misehouy, Bryan Gil, Arnaut Danjuma and Abel Ruiz.

Real Sociedad win the race to sign Orri Óskarsson

One of the deadline day deals that stood out was Real Sociedad’s acquisition of Orri Óskarsson, the Iceland international who arrives from FC Copenhagen. The striker, who only just turned 20 this summer, scored 23 goals in 62 games for the Danish side, and was wanted by several top European clubs. In the end, it was Real Sociedad who won the race to sign him, and it’ll be fascinating to see what he can do up front for the Txuri-Urdin.

The other deadline day moves

Óskarsson was far from the only player to complete his transfer on deadline day. The other interesting moves which took place late on Friday night included Sébastien Haller to CD Leganés, Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis, Chiquinho to RCD Mallorca, Arnaut Danjuma to Girona FC, Nayef Aguerd to Real Sociedad and Fábio Silva to UD Las Palmas.
