LALIGA celebrated with great success and the attendance of more than 70 people this April 12th in Tokyothe Real Sociedad- RCD Mallorca. The match is known as the ‘Japanese derby’ because the two LALIGA EA SPORT teamshave Japanese players: Take Kubo in Real Sociedad andTakuma Asano in RCD Mallorca.
During the event there were different surprises, such as the raffle of official Real Sociedad and RCD Mallorca jerseys, the latter signed by Asano himself. In addition, prizes were given away from official LALIGA sponsors such as FC 25 (EA SPORTS) and Panini. Some Japanese content creators were also present, such as Yuma__19 or Wp_Satoshi_Wp.
The match was surrounded by expectation and excitement, as both teams are fighting to finish the season in European places, and nothing has been decided yet at the end of the season. Mallorca's victory was greeted with joy by some of the club's fans present at ‘Blue-ing!
‘Real Sociedad and RCD Mallorca have a special bond with Japan, so we are very happy about the success of the event. Both clubs have collaborated with the activation, as they are very interested in nurturing and boosting the relationship with their Japanese fans. Japan is the only country where this event has been organised exclusively for Japanese fans, which shows the commitment of LALIGA and its clubs to the local community,’ says Guillermo Perez, LALIGA's delegate in Japan.
LALIGA counts Japan as one of its strategic markets in Asia, with a permanent delegation. Since 2017, different grassroots football projects have been carried out, activations with a focus on the Japanese fan such as this type of Watch Parties, or agreements with football institutions such as J.LEAGUE, WE LEAGUE or NADESHIKO League, or grassroots football projects such as those carried out with Wakatake or the LALIGA Nagano Cup tournament.
