Getafe CF claimed a 0-2 victory over RCD Espanyol, who were previously unbeaten in the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat, thanks to two goals from Adrián Colunga, and the team continues to climb the Liga BBVA table.

The match started with good chances for both teams, a header from Diego Colotto after eight minutes which was stopped by Miguel Ángel Moyà and a shot across the goal from Getafe's striker Colunga which went just wide in the next move. After the lively start, the pace settled down and it was not until the end of the first half that Espanyol took control of the match again, forcing Getafe's defence to concentrate and prevent the Catalonian side from scoring before the break.

After the team talks Espanyol dominated possession, but it was Pedro León in the 49th minute who came closest to opening the scoring for Getafe, however, his shot from outside the box was stopped by the foot of Kiko Casilla. The teams began to find their rhythm as they exchanged attacks. Moyà made a great save in the 72nd minute after a shot from Joan Capdevila, but it was Colunga who broke the deadlock for Getafe one minute later. A delightful move from the Madrid outfit ended with Pablo Sarabia passing to the Asturias native, whose shot from outside the box made it 0-1. Espanyol was close to levelling the match but in the end it was the Madrid team, again through Colunga, who next found the net, sealing a 0-2 victory.
