Abdon Prats named LaLiga SmartBank Player of the Month for May

Abdon Prats has secured the LaLiga SmartBank Player of the Month award for May. The Mallorca striker has shown excellent personal form, which has been all the more valuable given that it has been instrumental to his side avoiding defeat so far in May, winning three matches and drawing one.

Prats has managed to score twice this month, the first of which came against CD Mirandes at home, and the second against AD Alcorcon on the last matchday. He was the star of the show against Los Alfareros, opening the scoring in the match and setting up the second to lead his side to a 2-0 victory.

These two strikes have taken his season tally to nine and, beyond simply finding the back of the net, Prats has also shown himself to be a true team player in what has been a pivotal month for Luis Garcia Plaza’s charges.

RCD Mallorca’s number 9 has played an important role in the club achieving the goal they had set their sights on at the start of the campaign – promotion back to the Spanish top flight. Los Bermellones have secured this objective with two games to spare in LaLiga SmartBank.

Abdon Prats fought off competition from fellow forwards Ruben Castro of FC Cartagena and Cristhian Stuani of Girona FC to scoop this award.
