Thanks to this collaboration, LALIGA has shared knowledge and experiences with 22 Academy coaches of the Malaysian league, who have attended a specialised session divided into two learning pillars: on the one hand, Methodology and intervention tools, where the pillars of LALIGA's own Methodology and training tools such as periodisation models, or systems for monitoring the evolution of players are taught. On the other hand, LALIGA coaches have explained the LALIGA Game Model and key concepts based on the LALIGA player profile. A Spanish LALIGA coach has travelled from the LALIGA HQ in Madrid for this training.
LALIGA has accumulated more than 830 international sports projects since 2015 in more than 57 countries, in which more than 240,000 players have been trained. In addition, special emphasis has been placed on the training of local coaches in international projects: in total, more than 25.000 local coaches have been trained in different projects under the LALIGA Methodology, which focuses on a comprehensive training of the player. Many federations, leagues and clubs have carried out training projects with LALIGA, and the MFL is now joining them.
LALIGA has given special importance to the development of youth football in Malaysia, where it has a permanent academy at EPSON College and also maintains a collaboration agreement with the Malaysian football club Hijau Kuning FC, located in Kedah, to support development through the youth football structure. In addition, it promotes competitions, such as the LALIGA Youth Tournament and LALIGA Youth League, which help to showcase and develop Malaysian talent.
“Spanish youth football is highly valued at international level and, in particular, its coaches. LALIGA as an organisation has more than 8 years of experience in the development of international sports projects, something that helps to bring a new perspective at a local level that enriches the development of its youth football structure. In Malaysia we already have numerous projects, as we believe that Malaysian talent has enormous potential and that their football is going to grow exponentially in the coming years, so this collaboration seems to us an excellent first step to strengthen the relationship with the MFL” said Adrian Prol, LaLiga's delegate in Malaysia.
“MFL and LaLiga have had a strong relationship since 2018 where various activities have been held together, especially in the sharing of expertise in the field of football management before this. And I believe the workshop for the football development at the grassroots level involving the coaches of Malaysian League academy not only will strengthen the relationship between these two organizations but also will give the benefits to all participants. This is because the expertise and experience from LaLiga in developing young players especially in using the new modern football of technology and method has been proven with a lot of success at international level hence it is something good for a local coach to learn something from LaLiga coaches at this workshop,” said Giorgio Pompili Rossi, Chief Executive Officer of the MFL.
The excellent summer of Spanish football, which has won both Euro 2024 and the men's football gold medal at the Olympics, as well as the numerous titles won by the women's teams this season, shows the strength of Spanish football. Specifically, at Euro 2024, 25 of the 26 players came from the youth teams of 11 different LALIGA clubs, both LALIGA EA SPORTS and LALIGA HYPERMOTION, a clear indicator of the health of the talent pool that Spanish academies produce year after year to complement the arrival of established stars from abroad. These are the results of work that has been carried out for years in the grassroots football and youth academies of LALIGA clubs, and which LALIGA seeks to export to support the growth of world football.
