Real Oviedo Dismisses Javier Calleja

The decision was made official by Real Oviedo through an official statement published this Tuesday.  This statement confirmed the departure of Javier Calleja as the first team's coach, along with his coaching team. 

The dismissal comes despite Calleja being under contract until June 30, 2026.  The team's recent results precipitated the decision, with the coach's departure occurring less than a year after his arrival in July 2024.  Real Oviedo, nicknamed "Los Carbayones," has only managed to secure 1 point in their last 12 matches and currently sits sixth in LALIGA HYPERMOTION with 51 points.

In their statement, the club said, “Real Oviedo would like to thank Javi Calleja and his coaching staff for their commitment, professionalism, and hard work during their time here, and we wish them every success in their future careers.”
