The Andalusian outfit gave La Rosaleda’s crowd plenty to cheer about with a 3-0 win over the Azulones, thanks to goals from Juanpi, Atsu and Charles.

Juanpi extends his hot streak

It didn’t take long before the goals started flowing at La Rosaleda. The first came nine minutes in through a sensational piece of play by Juanpi Añor, who breezed past two defenders before producing a masterful clipped finish to beat Vicente Guaita. The Venezuelan is on scintillating form and has now netted in three games on the trot.

Dream debut

Christian Atsu, one of Malaga CF’s new signings, could not have had a better debut. The Ghanaian made the starting XI and took just 23 minutes to score his first Liga BBVA goal. Juanpi threaded a pass through to Charles and the Brazilian striker unselfishly played in his new teammate, who did not spurn the opportunity to double his side's lead.

Strikers link up

There was still time for the Malaga crowd to celebrate another goal before the interval. They watched their team make it 3-0 after the two strikers in the Blanquiazules’ starting line-up linked up perfectly. Duje Cop provided the assist from the left flank for Charles to notch up his ninth goal of the season, firing the ball home without taking a touch.

Home team solid at the back

Malaga not only proved that they are dangerous going forward, but also demonstrated their defensive solidity. Getafe fought hard throughout the second period to turn things around, but Javi Gracia’s men were not in the mood to permit an epic comeback, performing impeccably at the back.

Celebrating the 600 mark in style

This was not just another match at La Rosaleda. It was the 600th Liga BBVA game at the stadium, including those played by the defunct CD Malaga and the current Malaga CF. The Boquerones celebrated the milestone in style with a convincing win to put them on 30 points.
