Juan Diego Molina ‘Stoichkov’ named LaLiga SmartBank Player of the Month for October

Juan Diego Molina ‘Stoichkov’ has been named the LaLiga SmartBank Player of the Month for October. SD Eibar’s midfield dynamo was a pivotal figure for the Basques last month in which they managed to accumulate 13 points from four wins and a draw.

Stoichkov was decisive for Gaizka Garitano’s charges in this run of games; his trickery and constant forays into the opposition’s half saw him net three times and provide an assist. The Andalusian now sits pretty at the top of the LaLiga SmartBank scoring charts, with seven strikes to his name. He claimed Eibar’s final goal in their 3-1 triumph over UD Ibiza as well as opening the scoring in the following matchday against CD Mirandes. He was even more pivotal in his side’s away trip to face UD Almeria, netting the only goal of the match, and against CD Tenerife he provided Alvaro Tejero with an assist which was enough for the Los Armeros to register another win.

As well as being Eibar’s leading marksman Stoichkov is also second in the list of his club’s top assist providers. He’s an all-round midfielder; not afraid to get stuck in when it comes to helping out at the back but also a regular tormenter of opposition defences with his attacking work in the final third.

Stoichkov overcame the competition of UD Las Palmas’s Jonathan Viera and Burgos CF’s Grego Sierra to scoop this accolade.
