Getafe CF 2-0 Sevilla Atletico
Alvaro Jimenez was the star of the show at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, as the young attacking midfielder grabbed a brace to secure a third straight win for Jose Bordalas's men. This victory propels the Azulones up into fourth, level on points with Sevilla At., who remain in third.
CD Numancia 1-0 UD Almeria
Numancia edged past Almeria to claim three precious points and put some space between themselves and the dreaded drop zone. Marc Mateu fired the hosts into the driving seat when he swept home a right-wing cross with just four minutes on the clock. Buoyed by that early strike, Numancia went on to produce a commanding first-half display in which they bossed possession and enjoyed the better of the chances. The Andalusians upped things after the break to ensure a more even second period, but Jagoba Arrasate's charges ultimately held firm to record another home win.
CD Mirandes 1-0 Elche CF
Mirandes brought their nine-game winless run to an end and in the process climbed off the bottom of the table. Maikel Mesa's solitary goal in the 25th minute proved enough to clinch this crucial victory. Although Elche threatened sporadically after the interval, the home team generally looked solid at the back and saw the match out.
UCAM Murcia CF 1-2 CD Lugo
An Alfonso Pedraza double secured the spoils for Lugo in what was a keenly contested affair in Murcia, although the visitors were also indebted to their goalkeeper, Jose Juan, who prevented a late equaliser by saving an 89th-minute Juan Jose Collantes penalty. UCAM forged ahead within the opening 10 minutes through Nono, who seized on a defensive error and unleashed an unstoppable finish into the roof of the net. Pedraza levelled with a deflected drive from inside the D six minutes later, before completing the turnaround in the second half, drilling into the bottom corner from distance.
Cadiz CF 3-0 R. Zaragoza
The Andalusians offered further evidence that their promotion aspirations are serious by swatting Zaragoza aside. Salvi gave Cadiz the lead early on by applying the finishing touch after a sensational piece of wing play by Alvaro Garcia. Rafidine Abdullah made it 2-0 right after the restart and then Alfredo Ortuño rounded off the scoring with a superb strike with quarter of an hour to go. The result puts Cadiz right in the chasing pack behind the automatic promotion places.
Girona FC 2-1 Levante UD
The Catalans' purple patch continues as they clocked up their fourth win on the spin against none other than the LaLiga 1|2|3 leaders. Samuele Longo stole in front of visiting keeper Raul Fernandez to tap the home team in front just before the break, before Jonas Ramalho gave them a two-goal cushion with a glancing header on 71'. Rafa Martins pulled one back in the final minute, but Girona were not to be denied, bagging three big points to tighten their grip on second place and press home their promotion credentials.
Rayo Vallecano 2-0 AD Alcorcon
The Vallecas faithful were left with the local bragging rights after Ruben Baraja recorded his first win as Rayo boss in this Madrid derby. After a goalless first half, Javi Guerra's header broke the deadlock in the 51st minute. Franco Cristaldo sealed the deal with 10 minutes to go, opening his account for the club with a sweetly struck finish.
R.Oviedo 1-0 Nastic
Nastic it was who began this one in the ascendancy, only for Oviedo to take the lead against the run of play when an unmarked Toche got on the end of Nestor Susaeta's wonderfully whipped corner after 19 minutes. The Asturians took command after going ahead and only some fine goalkeeping by Stole Dimitrievski prevented a more comfortable scoreline.
CD Tenerife 1-1 SD Huesca
The visitors salvaged a point in Tenerife thanks to Urko Vera's late leveller. Jose Luis Marti's men got their noses in front inside the opening five minutes through Aitor Sanz, but Huesca kept plugging away and snatched a share of the spoils when Vera reacted fastest after the ball had rebounded off the post. The woodwork would subsequently come between the away team and maximum points, with Gonzalo Melero foiled by the crossbar in the closing stages.
RCD Mallorca 0-3 R. Valladolid CF
R.Valladolid took all three points away from the Balearic Islands courtesy of three second-half goals. Efforts from Jose, Alex Lopez and Michel earned a victory that leaves the winners plumb in mid-table, while Mallorca remain just a point above the relegation places.
CF Reus 1-2 Cordoba CF
Cordoba stopped their rot with a crucial triumph in Catalonia, ending their 10-game winless run in the league. Goals from Juli and Rodri got the Andalusians' new coach Luis Carrion off to a winning start in LaLiga 1|2|3 following their Copa del Rey success earlier in the week, while Srdan Babic's reply for Reus ultimately counted for nothing.
