Sevilla Atletico 0-1 CF Reus
After having failed to claim maximum points in their previous two outings, Reus returned to winning ways with a hard-fought victory over fellow-promoted side Sevilla At. at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan. Following a keenly contested opening 45 minutes, Jorge Diaz's 67th-minute spot-kick sealed the spoils for the Catalans, who become the first side to overcome the Sevillians on their own patch.
Nastic 0-1 Rayo Vallecano
Rayo staged a late show at the Nou Estadi to record their maiden away triumph of the campaign. Some fine goalkeeping from Stole Dimitrievski prevented Manucho and Javi Guerra from handing the Madrilenians the lead, but the Macedonian shotstopper was powerless to deny Guerra on 88' when he swept home a right-wing cross. This result brings Rayo's away-day blues to an end as they edge further away from the drop zone, whilst Vicente Moreno's charges remain rock bottom.
Elche CF 2-2 Getafe CF
These two sides served up a pulsating encounter at the Martinez Valero, where the hosts' never-say-die attitude saw them stage a stirring comeback after the Azulones had raced into a two-goal lead. Jose Bordalas's troops produced a commanding first-half display and looked on course for victory after strikes from Francisco Portillo and Jorge Molina sent them in two goals to the good at the break. However, the hosts weren't prepared to lie down and their efforts were rewarded as goals from Guillermo Fernandez and Nino restored parity. Elche were handed a golden opportunity to have grabbed all three points when the referee pointed to the spot in the dying minutes, but Edu Albacar contrived to sky his effort and both teams had to settle for a point.
SD Huesca 5-2 UCAM Murcia CF
The Huesca faithful were treated a goal fest as their side impressively despatched of UCAM at El Alcoraz. The game got off to a rip-roaring start with the hosts getting their noses in front on eight minutes when Samu Saiz earned himself a yard and unleashed a powerful drive from the edge of the box. However, Huesca's joy was short-lived as Jona struck to draw the visitors level just four minutes later. Juan Antonio Anquela's men went on to put themselves firmly into the ascendancy as they established a 3-1 lead courtesy of Borja Lazaro's close-range finish and Gonzalo Melero's nodded effort. UCAM produced an immediate reply as Juan Jose Collantes kept his cool when put clean through to reduce the arrears and give the Murcians a glimmer of hope, but Alvaro Vadillo's deflected shot and a towering Melero header rounded off a fine victory for the hosts.
Levante UD 1-0 CD Tenerife
League leaders Levante got back on track after their recent wobble - which had seen them pick up just one point from their last three outings -, as they edged past Tenerife at the Cuitat de Valencia stadium.Despite enjoying the lion's share of possession and laying siege to the islanders' goal, it wasn't until the 77th minute that the Valencians made the breakthrough, as Victor Casadesus stabbed the ball home to ensure that the Granotes remain top of the pile for a further week.
UD Almeria 2-1 RCD Mallorca
Three weeks on from their 2-1 home triumph over Elche CF, Almeria repeated the trick as they got back to winning ways against Mallorca. The Andalusians produced a convincing display, in which they led throughout after a stunning Antonio Puertas effort and a Fidel Chavas spot-kick handed them a two-goal advantage. The islanders didn't crumble and kept plugging away, and five minutes from time they reduced the deficit when Dejan Lekic met an inswinging corner to set up a grandstand finish. Ultimately there was to be no further goal action as Fernando Soriano's charges held firm to record their fifth victory of the campaign.
Cordoba CF 1-3 Cadiz CF
Alvaro Cervera's Cadiz made a real statement as they secured their seventh win of the season to move up to fourth. The visitors initially fell behind when Rodri Rios cooly despatched a 57th-minute penalty. With his side trailing, Alfredo Ortuño took matters into his own hands and bagged a brace to turn the game on its head. With just two minutes remaining, Aitor Garcia added some gloss to the scoreline when he picked the ball up outside the area and advanced several yards, before unleashing a thumping effort which nestled into the bottom corner.
CD Lugo 3-1 CD Numancia
After suffering a sobering home reverse at the hands of CD Tenerife two matchdays ago, the Galicians made amends by treating their supporters to an emphatic win over Numancia. The two sides played out an even first half, in which Joselu put the hosts into the driving seat, only for his effort to be cancelled out by Iñigo Perez's equaliser. In the second half, Lugo moved up through the gears as Joselu notched his second of the game, before Marcelo Djalo added a third to send the home fans away happy.
AD Alcorcon 2-1 Girona FC
Santo Domingo continues to be an impregnable fortress as the hosts saw off high-flying Girona, who arrived in Madrid in fine fettle and riding a four-game winning streak. The Madrilenians made a strong start and sealed the deal in the first half, courtesy of goals from Oscar Plano and David Rodriguez. The visitors got themselves back into the game in the second period through Cristian Herrera and kept probing in search of an equaliser, but Julio Velazquez's men saw the game out to take all three points.
R.Valladolid CF 5-0 CD Mirandes
The fans at Zorrilla enjoyed one of their team's best afternoons, as the hosts looked unstoppable against Mirandes, with Claudio Barragan making his managerial debut for the visitors. Los Purcelanos went in for half-time with a two-goal lead thanks to Jose Arnaiz and Juan Villa. Jaime Mata, with a brace, and Raul de Tomas completed the rout for Valladolid in the second half.
R.Zaragoza 2-1 R. Oviedo
Angel Rodriguez was the star of the show in the final game of the matchday, his double seeing Zaragoza return to winning ways after three outings without a victory. Oviedo were forced to replace Michu early on due to injury and then they were reduced to 10 men on 43 minutes when Hector Verdes was sent off. The Asturians managed to pull one back four minutes from time with a wonderful goal by Francisco Varela, but the scoreline remained in the home side's favour at La Romareda.
