Over 25 new players were registered in LaLiga SmartBank on the final day of the 2019 summer transfer window. CD Lugo, SD Ponferradina, Girona FC, RC Deportivo, UD Almeria, Rayo Vallecano and UD Las Palmas were among the most active clubs in the hours leading up to the deadline.

Two of the biggest names to change clubs on the final day of the window were Jonathan Soriano and Asier Riesgo. The former, renowned for finishing as the top goalscorer in the Austrian top flight multiple times, has joined Girona FC from Saudi club Al-Hilal. The Catalan outfit also strengthened between the sticks by bringing in the experienced Spanish goalkeeper.

RC Deportivo were also frantically reaching for the cheque book as time was running out, sealing the signings of Beto Da Silva from Tigres, Sasa Jovanovic from Al-Fateh, Salva Ruiz from Valencia B, and Javi Montero and Victor Mollejo from Atletico Madrid B. Rayo Vallecano drafted in striker Leonardo Ulloa and strengthened the rearguard by signing Antonio Milic.

More than 220 players have been registered in LaLiga SmartBank since the transfer window opened on 1 July, including a wide range of nationalities. The most exotic include Panamanian, Chinese, Togolese and Japanese, which is further proof that the competition is continuing to expand and with a host of new arrivals coming in, it promises to be another exciting season of action.
