Real Madrid CF have officially announced that Xabi Alonso has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until the 30th of June 2016. The Whites will have one of their most emblematic players, and a key piece of Carlo Ancelotti's side, for another two seasons.
The 32 year old arrived at Real Madrid in the 2009/10 campaign from Liverpool FC, and this contract extension means he will be a Madrid player for seven years in total. Since his arrival, Xabi Alonso has been an essential player for the side from the capital, winning Liga BBVA, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Supercup each on one occasion.
The World and European champion has recently been out with a fractured fifth metatarsal on his right foot, however since coming back he has once again become a key part of the side, playing eight times in Liga BBVA.
