Previously… Jorge Otero Bouzas (Nigrán, Pontevedra, 1969) is a retired footballer who played for RC Celta, Valencia CF, Real Betis, Atlético Madrid and Elche CF as a full back.
His achievements… He played over 200 competitive games for Celta de Vigo and notched up six goals during the course of his long professional career. He was part of the Spanish squad at the 1994 World Cup in the USA and Javier Clemente placed his trust in the defender again for the 1996 European Championship.
After hanging up his boots… He retired from the professional game in 2005 while with Elche. Despite calling it quits, the Galician man continued to play with the Celta veterans team. Otero is currently managing Rápido de Bouzas, a Vigo-based club competing in the Third Division.
Did you know?… Otero was the first Celta player to ever represent Spain at a World Cup.
