Villarreal has decided to take one more step forward towards innovation and this time they have focused on the playing surface in El Madrigal. The club hosted the president of LaLiga Javier Tebas, along with representatives from various other clubs, so they could see the progress of the new grass first-hand.
The Castellon team have put their money on a new hybrid grass, expecting to see some major improvements. It is system in which synthetic fibres are alternated with natural grass. The objective is to help the grass catch hold better and so obtain a playing field and conditions that are more stable.
Stadiums such as the Allianz Arena (Bayern Munich), the Parque de los Príncipes (Paris Saint Germain), Etihad Stadium (Manchester City), Emirates Stadium (Arsenal), Stamford Bridge (Chelsea FC) and Old Trafford (Manchester United) already count on this system.
