Vero Boquete, timeline of a life in football

Look back over the most significant dates in the career of Spanish star and new LaLiga ambassador Vero Boquete.

1- 2001: Veronica Boquete starts playing for Xuventu aged 15.
2- 8 August 2004: Vero wins the European Under-19 Championship with Spain in Finland.
3- August 2005: The Galician signs for Prainsa Zaragoza, now known as CD Transportes Alcaine, where she would make her debut in the Spanish top flight.
4- August 2008: Vero moves to RCD Espanyol, with whom she would win two Copas de la Reina.
5- 21 June 2009: She claims her first Copa de la Reina with Espanyol.
6- 5 June 2010: She helps the Catalans retain the trophy.

7- 1 July 2010: She joins American side the Buffalo Flash (now Western New York Flash), where she ends the season with the highest assist tally in the league and scores eight goals in nine matches. She is named woman of the match in the USL W-League Championship final, in which her team are victorious.
8- 3 August 2010: Her move to the Chicago Reds is confirmed, where she gets a taste of the National Women's Soccer League – one of the best in the world – and shares a dressing room with fellow Spaniard Laura del Rio.
9- September 2010: Vero returns to Espanyol, finishing the 2010-11 season with 39 goals in 26 appearances.
10- 21 January 2011: The Philadelphia Independence agree a deal with Boquete, although she sees the campaign out with Espanyol before crossing the Atlantic again on 4 June 2011.
11- 7 June 2011: She makes her debut for the Philadelphia outfit, with whom she would be named the WPS (Women's Professional Soccer) Player of the Year on 17 August 2011.
12- 2 September 2011: The Spaniard braves the cold of Russia to sign for Energy Voronezh, with whom she would enjoy first experience of the Women's Champions League on 29 September 2011 against Bristol Academy (now Bristol City).
13- 11 January 2012: Vero agrees a two-year contract with Swedish side Tyreso, albeit with a clause allowing her to line up for the Philadelphia Independence again from May to August.
14- 24 October 2012: She celebrates league title glory with Tyreso and wins the award for the best midfielder in the division.
15- 22 May 2014: Vero's Tyreso lose 4-3 to Wolfsburg in the Champions League final, the Spaniard scoring her team's second goal.
16- 7 April 2014: Boquete signs on with the Portland Thorns, travelling back over to the USA after completing the season with Tyreso.

17- 25 August 2014: Following another successful stint Stateside, where she is voted as the Fans' Player of the Year, she is snapped up by Frankfurt.
18- 24 October 2014: She becomes the first Spaniard to be nominated for the FIFA Women's World Player of the Year award, the equivalent of the Ballon d'Or.
19- 14 May 2015: Boquete is the first Spanish player to win the Women's Champions League, her side overcoming PSG 2-1 in the final.
20- 27 May 2015: She joins Bayern Munich on a two-year deal.
21- 9 June 2015: The Spanish national team make their maiden appearance at the Women's World Cup, with Boquete wearing the captain's armband in Canada.
22- 17 June 2015: She scores her first World Cup goal against South Korea in the group stage.
23- 21 November 2015: After being sidelined for months with an injury, Vero makes her Bayern Munich debut against Leverkusen.
24- 25 February 2016: Boquete becomes a LaLiga ambassador, tasked with representing the organisation all over the world.
