The end of the season is approaching in the Liga Adelante. There are just three matchdays to go, and nothing has been decided so far – so having a dependable goalscorer will prove important to clubs if they are to achieve their objectives.
Real Betis, who after their 2-4 win over R. Racing C. on Thursday need just three points to clinch a coveted return to the Liga BBVA, are a prime example: los verdiblancos earned this crucial victory thanks once again to the scoring run of Rubén Castro, who is now on 30 goals after netting for the sixth consecutive matchday. Team-mate Jorge Molina also had a hand in the triumph with a goal, and his tally of 18 this term means that he and Castro have amassed 48 between them for a Betis side that have the chance to seal promotion to the Liga BBVA against AD Alcorcón on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Liga Adelante’s second top marksman, R. Zaragoza's 22-goal striker Borja Bastón, was unable to find the net in his team’s 0-1 loss to CD Mirandés. One man who did get his name on the scoresheet this week was UD Las Palmas’ Argentinian forward Sergio Araujo. His 19th goal of the season helped the Canary Islanders to pick up three important points and consolidate their position in the play-offs.
Finally, David Rodríguez drops to fifth in the Liga Adelante scoring charts after failing to score in Alcorcón’s 0-0 draw against R. Sporting.
