- Burgos CF have played their matches at El Plantio for over five decades, seeing the club through ups and downs, including 18 seasons in the second tier of Spanish football and six in LaLiga Santander. After a 20 hiatus, the venue will once again be hosting games in LaLiga SmartBank.
- The stadium sits on the banks of the Arlanzon River. Some of the greatest Spanish footballers have appeared at El Plantio, and blanquinegros’ fans have witnessed plenty of memorable nights watching their team at the ground.
- Following several renovations throughout its history, El Plantio now has a capacity of 12,642 and dimensions of 105 x 70 m of a natural grass pitch.
- The first-ever game at El Plantio took place on 13 September 1964, in which Burgos CF faced the Sociedad Deportiva Indauchu on the first matchday of the 1964/65 LaLiga SmartBank season. Burgos gave their fans something to cheer about by winning 2-0. The player who can claim the honour of scoring the first goal at El Plantio is Eduardo Pita Piñeiro, better known as ‘Pita’, who found the net in the 53rd minute of that game.
- Burgos CF had an impressive home record in the 2020/21 season, winning 10 times, drawing once and only falling to defeat in one of their 12 games at El Plantio. Burgos were able to rack up 31 of their 50 points from last season playing on their home turf, and this great form was pivotal in them achieving promotion.
