Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga and Fernando Roig, the president of Villarreal CF, spoke after the extraordinary general assembly held in Vila-Real this Friday. Tebas explained that the principle points touched on in the meeting, highlighting that "we have spoken with the institutions on the topics of integrity, how to eradicate the problems of match fixing, the television rights situation and the strategy of the central sale of rights so that the clubs can enjoy greater income."

Moreover, Tebas explained that LaLiga "had recovered the rights that 38 clubs had with television operators to put them in one package after reaching an agreement with Mediapro. At the moment we still lack four cubs and hope to reach an agreement with them in the coming years."

Regarding the investigations opened by LaLiga on various clubs, Javier Tebas pointed out that "the subject of Elche CF is closed and that resolving their problems with the tax authorities will not change the decision of LaLiga." Regarding Real Sporting de Gijón, the president noted that "they will not be allowed to sign players for next year," and remembered that "in the case that Real Zaragoza manage to get promoted this weekend, the two clubs that couldn't sign last year would have been promoted to the Liga BBVA" and highlighted that "having faith in their academy as both these clubs have had to do has worked."

Regarding the proceedings opened for alleged fixing of matches, the LaLiga president explained that "we already warned that when we receive an accusation of match fixing we would take all the measures to ensure we follow it up, clarify the facts and if possible deter them. It is an obligation because what we want is to try and eradicate these type of actions from the minority. Asked about the suspected match fixing in the match between RCD Mallorca and Albacete Balompié, Tebas noted that "It is one of the games that we have in mind and we are collecting information to see if it is for legal or illegal betting."

Javier Tebas congratulated Fernando Roig for the new high-tech grass that has been implemented at El Madrigal. "To be the best league in the world we also have to have the best grass in the world. We cannot give the image of the field of play not being well-kept. Villarreal have taken an important step and we will be in contact to see if shortly we can have it in all our football. Roig pointed out that "we wanted to show it to all the clubs in LaLiga so they can see the results it has given us and transmit that to all the teams.

To finish, the president of LaLiga hailed the "values of Villarreal CF and they are the values that we all want in Spanish football, both in Financial Fair Play and in the fight against match fixing." Tebas congratulated Fernando Roig for his management and remembered that it will be a great weekend for Vila-real as it hosts the XXII edition of the PAMESA LaLiga Promises national tournament. "We have met with the kids, so that they taken in the most important message from LaLiga and the assembly that together Financial Fair Play and playing clean...is like a breath of fresh air. For his part, Roig highlighted "the satisfaction to host all of professional football at our home" and supported "all those that will go to Villarreal’s training ground to enjoy a great atmosphere of football."
