1-The lead
The capacity of Betis to compete is engrained within the DNA of the club, but the division requires many different things. The demanding Liga Adelante gave the Andalusians a tough start, although things changed in the most decisive stretch of the season. Game week 29 proved to be a turning point in the outcome of the season. From that moment they topped the table, a position they had only held in game week 2, and a position they would go on to hold for the rest of the season.
2-A reliable squad
Every member of the squad contributed to the success of a team that covered themselves in glory during the 2014/15 campaign, and that was precisely their secret. A strong squad with competition for places, in which although many players stood out, each one worked hard for the team. They personified, and were a fine example of the word team.
3-Leadership from the dugout
One of the key factors in their promotion was the manager. Pepe Mel was the driving force behind his team’s return to la Liga BBVA. His ability to lead and his knowledge of the club gave them the stability that they needed. December saw his return and May his triumph. His achievement put the finishing touch on the previous work of Julio Velázquez, as well as the great role played by Juan Merino.
4-Support
The fan base of this team was one of the main assets people had spoken about prior to the start of the season. Although it wasn’t an easy year, the 'verdiblancos' have once again managed to put a smile on the face of all their supporters. The dream came true and Betis will compete once more in la Liga BBVA thanks to the unconditional support of all their fans.
5-Promotion confirmed
To complete a great season they just needed to do the business against Alcorcón. Three more points were enough to see Betis in the top division. Rubén Castro and Jorge Molina scored the goals to set off an explosion of jubilation in the Vilamarín to celebrate their eagerly awaited return to the top tier of Spanish football.
